Crumpler Bag

Ok, I know we have had this discussion before about sling bags, couldn't find it anywhere in the history, so I thought I would post. Sorry if I am repeating something that has been discussed over and over.

I am in the market for a sling bag. None of our local stores carry any, so I have been looking online. The reviews on crumplers are always so good, but I can't tell if they have any sling bags. Or do people just use their shoulder bags like a sling, if so, I'm actually looking for a sling bag and that won't work.

I've been looking at the Tamrac Velocity series also and was considering that, but liked the fact that Crumpler's don't look like a camera bag... In the end, it's obviously what works best for a camera bag that I will go with!

Q1. Is there any Crumpler bags that are sling bags?

Q2. Any recommendations for a sling bag?

Thanks so much for any advice you have.

Here's what I'll be carrying in the bag.
D70 body
75-300 lens
28-70 lens
sb-600 flash

I have a Lowepro Slingshot 200 (the larger one) (http://www.lowepro.com/Products/Sling_Bags/All_Weather_Cover/SlingShot_200_AW.aspx) and am very happy with it. I don't think Crumpler do any sling bags, at least I couldn't find any when I looked.

I don't know how big those lenses of yours are but the lens compartments on the bag aren't big enough handle too many big lenses. I have a Sigma 10-20 which is about 8cm diameter by 8cm long and it fits OK but only because I have a small 50mm 1.8 in the next compartment.
You can also fit a reasonable size lens to the camera, I have the Nikon 18-200 and it's about the longest I'd feel comfortable putting in there. I've just looked on Nikon's site and they claim it's 9.5cm long.

There's also a top section that's big enough a few small items - mp3 player, cables, batteries, maybe a small sandwich.

The small pocket on the back will hold a small notepad and pens or other bit of paper. I keep a mini tripod in there too.

One thing to be careful of with this bag is that because it lets you get at the camera easily the same applies to any dodgy people standing behind you. Personally I have a padlock looped through all three zips to the large compartments if I'm just travelling around and don't need the camera at short notice.

A couple of other nice features are the built in rain cover and the extra strap that keeps the bag a bit more stable but you can hide away when you're not using it.

Arrived this morning less than 24 hours after ordered and its very nice!
Primarily a laptob bag but with enough room and padding to fit not only my 12" Ibook but also my 350D a couple of lenses, drink sarnie box and other bits too.

The BEST thing though about Crumpler bags is the quality! heavy material well pu together! = Very happy.

    Thanks for the great links.

I am looking at the 5 million dollar home.

Will 20D with 24-70 and hood + 70-200 f/2.8 with hood and maybe the 10-22 fit in this bag?
Could I go to the 5 million dollar home or do I need to go up ?

I have the 6 million dollar with the:

    30D
    Tamron 28-75
    70-200F4
    Tokina 12-24
    canon 430ex
    GF LS

I find that I can make all this stuff fight but it is pretty tight and leaves no room for another lens in the future. When I had the sigma 105 I had to make a decesion which lens was going to stay and which were going in the bag. Overall I LOVE the feel and look of the bag, it doesn't scream hey I'm full of expensive camera gear.

If I were buying new I would go for the 7Million but since I got this for $50 plus shipping used I couldn't pass it up.

FYI - I did a mini-review of the 7 Million Dollar Home here:

    http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?p=335417#post335417

I did point out a few shortcomings of the bag. While I don't know if those shortcomings apply to the 6 Million Dollar Home, I feel they are things to watch out for with the larger Crumpler bags.
