Sharpenhoe Clappers - Scary

The beech trees crowning Sharpenhoe Clappers, Bedfordshire, England.

This Iron Age hill fort was built on a northern promontory of the Chiltern Hills, strategically overlooking the flat plains beneath.

This area is reputedly haunted (aren't they all?) I don't buy into this, however once the sun slipped below the horizon and the woods quickly became cold, dark and deserted, the walk back to the car was somewhat less than relaxing.

Why Sharpenhoe Clappers? It's located near the village of Sharpenhoe and beech trees are known locally as 'clappers.'

Amazing colors and light. Beautiful pic. The tree's and roots def. have an otherworldly quality to them.

Thanks guys, I waited an hour for the sun to peek through and hit the roots in the foreground, however they must have been the only part it didn't hit, typical.

On the walk back I got to wondering how effective a weapon the 5D would be swung on the end of my tripod should it be required.:uhoh
