Rugby from the weekend

This is the first year for the new Midland Merit League and i was asked to shoot the final, i found it quite hard trying to shoot both teams equal usually i'm just shooting for one team
All taken with new to me 1D + 300mmF4L

    you got some great action Garythumb.gif I love how the facial expressions really show the intensity of their play. But clue in this naive american - what does it mean to be "going for the try"?

    The shots are nice. I suppose the technique is similar to shooting races...

    But these shots look like having - I am no expert - too much Shadow/Hightlight, or Unshap Mask, I don't know eek7.gif...
    They don't have the usual quality, or the quality of the other photos you posted before
    Is there a white halo or is it from my monitor ?

    This has been mentioned before but not about my photo's i think it is something to do with Smugmug giving them more sharpening

    I have reprocessed it in photoshop instead of raw shooter and no sharpening

    For the rugby shots i think they are all backlit so it could be the sun
