USB/Firewire Video Capture Card for Mac Book Pro

Hey all,
I am looking for a method to Capture old school 8mm tape recordings onto my Mac Book pro so I can add them into videos. We have 8mm tape players that have RCA outs. Any ideas on a good USB/Firewire400 attachement that I can use to bring it onto my Mac and edit it? Thanks!

Just because some equipment has a "video out" doesn't mean it's NTSC compliant. It could be something very proprietary. High speed motion analysis equipment is often this way.

If it is NTSC compliant, most DVmini camcorders have either a video in capability and/or a live converter from analog, the RCA connection, to IEEE 1394, commonly called "FireWire".

You can also get a stand-alone box to do the conversion. Canopus makes a great one called the "ADVC-110"
