My friend Chris plays taiko drums. Due to a grin of the Transportation God he found himself in a temporary possession of four drums, so few of us went to our favorite park to have some old good fun: hitting the huge drums. In fact we have a witness that our drumming could be heard miles away:-).

Below are few shots:

This is how you hold a bachi - taiko drum stick:

The drum surface a split second after a hit. You can see the blur in a center as it vibrates feverishly:

Chris is showing how to hit taiko properly:

Hit it hard!

You can play solo:

You can play duo:

Or you can play trio:

But no matter what, you always shine like a star:

Enjoy lunch shooting!

We were always a bit confused we he was referring to his taiko classes/rehearsals as to a physically challenging and exhausting experience.

Now, after I tried it only for a few minutes I can easily see why :D

    Thanks for looking! thumb.gif

    Thanks!
I had to crowl under the drum to take this - while he was hitting it.
I was a bit concerned that he'd miss the drum and hit my 30D with his bachi... rolleyes1.gif
    Luckily, it didn't happen :D

Great series! Love the last shot, but they're all great. Looks like it would be a real great way to relieve stress and tension!!!! Just visualize something/someone that bugs you and go for it!!! Great way to spend your lunch hour, too. thumb.gif

We used to go to that park more often, but lately we got hooked on sushi places... Besides, all this summer was a rather hot onene_nau.gif
