Hello all, I just joined Digital Grin. I see amazing photo shots posted by good photographers here.

I am going to get some postcards printed but i cannot decide which photograph to use for my postcard design. Can you guys give me some critiques on the following photographs and vote on which one you like the most? I will really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I will be distributing the postcards to my family and friends. I know in the age of email, not many people use postcards anymore. But this is just something I wanted to do for quiet a while. Have my work printed as a postcard with my web address http://www.singhphotos.com at the back so that people can see my work.

    Welcome to Dgrin!

All your pictures are nice, well done.

You're planning to print some postcards and for that reason I put more consideration in the overall quality of the pics. This is purely based on my personal opinion and, believe you me, I'm not an authority in this matter

I choose an animal above a fruit or a flower as far for my taste.

The first two pics however seems a bit soft plus the 2nd is a bit dark. In other words: first two for a postcard? Nah.

The last two are nice pics but personally I find the compositions not very strong, also the lack sharpness of texture detail in the 5th is a minus for a postcard. The last two for a postcard? Nah.

The 4th is a very nice flower with a lot of emptyness around it which make it for me less attractive while the 3th is a lot better. The piece of flower just out of the frame at the bottom and the leaf just left to the flower could be removed in PhotoShop.

For me personally, number 3 will do

Just my 2 cents for what is is worth.

Dick, thank you very much for your honest analysis. I really appreciate it. The 4th one is about 3000 pixel, so I can easily crop the centered flower closeup without losing quality. Do you think closing up of number 4 and getting rid of the emptiness will beat number 3?

No, I don't think so. The "emptyness" have some very uninterestting objects in it like the OOF back of a flower. If the 4th is in your favor, I would suggest something like this:

It all have to do with taste and opinion.

Have fun with figuring out what to do. The poll helps.
