RAW help please.
I have been in the digital world for around 8 months, and I wanted to know what RAW format really is, and how do I use it, because I started using it, but I couldn't see my pictures at my PC, I downloaded many things to see them, many RAW thumbnail watchers or things like that, I have the CS2 and I'm supposed to be able to work with them, but the files don't appear at the camera's folders, I have a Canon 20D, help me with this please, because I have heard RAWs are useful, all help appreciated, thank you.

2/ Load the shots into a file on computer
3/ Start CS2 & go to top left & open file menu & choose 'Browse'
4/ Browse will open with the RAW shots.

If you need the basics then here is a great place for several months reading.
Sorry sorry :cry I copy pasted it, but I wrote other stuff, the thing is that your advice was great, but the problem is that the camera is empty when I use RAWs, well if I press play on my camera I can see the pictures but when I see the folders at the camera plugged to the PC, there's nothing, sorry for duplicating my post.:uhoh :cry
But yes...you really should be using or at least be familiar with how to use RAW. I use both RAW & Jpeg. Jpeg for high volume sports shooting & RAW for everything else.
If you are using Windows XP and haven't uploaded the Windows RAW update, found here, you won't see files in your camera, using the USB connection. One way around this is to use the EOS Viewer Utility to view and upload pics from the camera's files to your desired Windows folder.
Or, as Gus mentions, get a card reader and it takes care of all these little issues.

Hit Google, there should be more information there than you can digest in a year. Luminous Landscape would be a good place to go as well, many good articles on the subject. Then, for good infoermation on actually processing Bruce Fraser's Real World Camera RAW is one of the best books out there.
