Nice one! love the barnicles on the tail tips! how'd you get so close? - big lens? or were you on a boat?

Wish I had of got something like that with my whale shots : http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=38887&highlight=southern+whale. mine definatly pale in comparison (infact looking at them again they just look like big fat blobs of blubber!) umph.gifmwink.gifclap.gif

    Talk about contrast!

    Just great, Gus.

An opportunity for a select few...and you are one of them! A humbling experience...I'll bet.

I like the shot. I think it's worth going back into the RAW conversion and making two conversions, one for the whale and one for the water, and then compositing them so that you can have details in both the shadows and the highlights.

    Thanks for looking guys.

David shot in jpeg. I have no idea what you are talking about, do you mean do 2 layers & merge them ?

Tell you what..how about i put the original jpeg into a SM album with original downloads ok'd ..PM you the page & you can suck it down & see what you can do. In ?

I need to write a tute on that one. Marc Muench has his own special way of doing it. I'll make sure you see it when it's posted.

As for the JPEG, sure. All you can do there is Shadow/Highlights, but i'll take a crack at it. Rutt has a great tutorial on that in the how to link up top of the forums.
