I like this a lot! think the colour is fine for this as too me your not trying to replicate what you saw but create a nice picture which for me you have.

Theres always a "but" and this is a little one but could you remove the red/pink colour from the guy in the BG its a little distracting.

Easier said that done...
my first quick fix, but I think it looks pretty bad

Heres what I did, hope you dont mind



Used lasso tool to put a circle around everything red on him giving a safe bit extra of around 4 pixels all the way round and feather of 2 pixels.

Then opened a new selective colour adjustment layer.

Dropped the Magenta to -82 and left everything else alone.

All I did was guess to be honest!

I knew I wanted to affect one area so hence the lasso, then I tried curves that was horrible, i then thought I want to adjust the red colour so surely try a colour adjustment layer!

You did what I wanted to do.
I used he lasso, too. Adjustment layer to de-saturate.....I tried an adjustment layer with the channel mixer, color balance, levels....all to no happy avail. I think I tried selective color, but didn't push it too hard.

Just tried your version with a layer mask instead of the lasso. I added some exposure to her face too (levels adj layer with layer mask).
Maybe too extreem. The whole reason I adjusted the color in the first place was for stronger contrast. Now I'm just tinkering for fun, I guess.

The BG guy recolour looks great,

Your right though yove done too much too her!

the half of her arm thats in shadow is lghter than her arm in the sun!

Here is mine to try and bring out the face a bit, I think if it goes much further its too far



Oh did the adjustment using 'Image>Adjustments>shadows/highlights and put 8 on the shadow slider

I like the dynamic nature of this photograph and the composition with the girl to one side looking outwards. Bit unusual but it works perfect here. The colour treatment works as well.

What I don't like is not the background or the man but the fact that you've cut her left hand and the knee. I must admit I do this often too - zoom in too close and than regret missing a detail or too.
