These are some old homes that are built practically on the cliffs surrounding the St. John's Harbour in St. John's, Newfoundland. Back in the day folks would apparently build anywhere just to be closer to the Fish!

I'm just starting to take pics with a DSLR and I'm as Amateur as they come so any critiques or hints on how to improve will always be appreciated.

That's a really nice clear shot with great detail. I want to say it could use a little more contrast and color, but what you have may be what is there. I live in So. Cal, and our colors really jump out. I have to remind myself that that's now how it is everywhere.

    Let's see some more.clap.gif

What a great shot. I love the colors. I live in the Northeast, and depending on the light and time of year, colors are often difficult to get so vibrantly. My only question is... how do these people get to their homes????

There is a very long, very narrow, very hilly "road" that runs from downtown St. John's out to these homes along the edge of the harbour. Walking down that road is like walking into the past. I'm hoping to head down there soon to take more shots from the up-close perspective.

nothing unusual here - it's what you would expect to find on any cliff front along the valuable So Cal coast where any empty space is fair game for a multi-million $ house rolleyes1.gif

but, that said, I like it and like the variety of colors of the houses, eh.
