Here are two more taken from this evening. I must say that the Kingfisher is one of the hardest birds for me, all summer long this bird has gotten away from me, and funny tonight is the closest he let me get to him.

    The first shot is prime.

The second shot is even better!! Kingfishers are not pushovers. Nicely done.

Love both shots, such detail. But that kingfisher leaves me in the dirt w envy! Either he likes you better than any kingfisher likes me, or you have a much longer lens and steadier hand!

I was seeing them and photographing them for a few weeks, and I got some good ones, but you way outdid me there!!!!

That is so cool!!! Love them birds!

Thanks pathfinder for your comments, hey you are right these guys willo not let you get close to them at all, and it all boils down to luck in my view. I have tried all summer long to get this guy captured on digital, and then when you don't expect it there he was.

    Thanks again.

Hi Ginger, thanks for the kind words on these images. I'm happy that you liked the kingfisher shot. It took me all summer long to get this shot, could never get close enough to them, they wouold take off when they see you.

You and many others have tried to get them on digital, and all it takes is some luck to get them. Keep pushing away and your time will come for sure. This was taken with a 100-400 mm lens mounted on a bushhawk to help me keep the shot steady....

    Cheers!

    great kingfisher...
I can never seem to get that close to them. Either you have one honking big lens, or you are far stealthier than I...great shots...

traunerk, I have to say that I have tried to capture this bird all summer long and never got lucky until this day when I seen him on the rock, and I moved slowly towards him and he never move, I got this shot just around the bushes and then he saw me close and took off.

This was taken with a 100-400mm L IS lens.

    Thanks
