I've been doing some portraits and doing my first wedding in 2 weeks, and smugmug works great for that but I'm looking for a reliable service geared towards youth sports. I've been asked about shooting for our local rec center, so I'm looking for someone that does trading cards and magazine cover type thing possibly. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Trading cards, magazine covers, check out Pro Shooter Direct. I use them for Motocross trading cards. They don't have a template for that sport so I design my own and the print from that. I'm happy with their print quality. If you shoot a sport they have a template for it just makes things easier. Note they will not host your photos, only take and fulfill your order. So I do those items as a self-fulfill item from my Exposure Manager shopping cart.

I use Event Pictures and have been very pleased. They have nice features that make it easier to organize large numbers of photos, offer lots of print sizes, and novelty items. Prints go thru EZ Prints service. I have never sold any of the novelty item stuff. Flexible pricing can be set by the photographer. Good customer and photographer service too.

I have a template for trading cards that I got from easy digitals . .my question is will I lose any of the card due to cropping . .does it need to be a little larger than the actual card to allow for cropping that won't trim any of the actual card itself . . does this make sense .. any help greatly appreciated..

    Thanks

    Mike,

You might check out H&H Color Lab (www.hhcolorlab.com). They have a software program called eZevent and this is fairly easy to use for sports and event photography. Their prices are very good and the prints look excellent. They offer the items you've outlined above.

    Give them a look-see! :D
