Warbler?

Anyone know what kind of bird this is? I tried looking it up but I couldn't figure it out. I think it is a warbler of some sort but I could be completely wrong about that. Taken this morning in early light.

Nice one, Nick! Love the color of the background and that you caught him with the goods (in his beak!). thumb.gif

I second the goldfinch ID, even though the light makes it difficult to be sure...Regards, Keith

    Hi Nick,

    I also think it's a Goldfinch.

Nice morning light and the thistle seed in the bill adds interest

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

I think you are right. I think it is a juvenile American Goldfinch. I hate juveniles, their coloring always throws me off. Thanks you very much for the ID.

Thanks for looking everyone. It was a great morning. Just before I took this shot I had a hummingbird almost fly right into me. It flew within a foot of me and then just stopped and hovered, just checking me out. I could have used my macro lens it was so close.

Female goldfinch. Very nice shot Nick!

Doesn't drive you nuts when the hummers hover like that, you could whack them with the lens!umph.gif
