What are Quantaray filters for??? :D

I was searching some new things at my dad's old camera kits, and I found a couple of UV filters, a polarizer, and a filter that said Quantaray, I don't know what are these ones for, it was a dark glass filter and I used it in a couple of shots to test it and I saw that the color of a car's windshield changes with and without the quantaray filter, it looked more blue and the sky changed, I don't know, these are all empiric tests, but I would like to know when do I use it? for what do I use it?

Quantaray is a brand name ... Ritz Camera still sells them. I used a set of them back in the 70's with my old Rollei TLR. You would need to read the nomenclature off the edges of the filter ring to find out what each one does/is. Yeah I used a few of these in my 35mm years.
Where better than nothing but not the best quality!
I went to all Tiffen back then.
Now it's middle to high grade Hoya or B+W for me.
