Google Search Question

I've been with Smugmug since Feb 2006. My friends and family who visit just love it! They find it very easy to use when I post photos.

But I've run into a slight problem regarding Google search. If I do a search for my first and last name in Google (or other search engines), my Smugmug account comes up as a search result. No where on in my galleries or descriptions does my first and last name appear.

:dunno Anyone have any ideas how this might have turned up in search results?

yep... I don't like it either.... and they do it on purpose.

Google will index any captions, album descriptions that have your name in them. If you can give your SmugMug site as a link here, I can also investigate further

Great! Well, at least there is an answer to my question. I would agree though, that more control would be nice, as Onethumb suggested:

I think the sane thing to do is probably build some controls to allow you to change your search settings independently of your display settings. So you could checkmark first, last, and nick names independently of each other. Does that sound adequate?

Let's just say I was found out by someone I care not to have contact with. Luckily most of my photos are password protected.
