CS2 --> jpg: lost keywords

I could use some help with a problem. I'm using CS2 and Adobe Raw to process large numbers of images. I do the keywords up front, and they survive conversion to psd. But when I convert to jpg for upload to smugmug or elsewhere, the keywords are lost. I convert using the "save for web" feature. I saw something on the Adobe site indicating that the "save for web" images purposely have stripped metadata in order to keep size down.

It's a nuisance for me, as I'd love to just enter keywords once and then ahve them stay with the images!

Is anyone else bothered by this . . . and have you found a solution?

Thanks . .

Mitch

    Have you tried just saving as a JPG without using Save for Web?

    Exactly what rsinmadrid said. When you save for web, its designed to downsize files to make them small in size, thus likely eliminating keywords and anything else to keep the size down.
    "A photo is like a hamburger. You can get one from McDonalds for $1, one from Chili's for $5, or one from Ruth's Chris for $15. You usually get what you pay for, but don't expect a Ruth's Chris burger at a McDonalds price, if you want that, go cook it yourself." - me

    Yes -- I have tried this and it works. But then I lose some other useful features of "save for web".

    Thanks to you both, rs and bham . .

    More specifically, save for web strips out ALL metadata--EXIF and IPTC both.

    The solutiuon is avoid save for web. You can get the same results and retain your metadata by simply converting to 8-bit RGB (make sure it's in the sRGB color space), then a simple save as. I usually set the compression to about level 5-6 for web, that's plenty for a nice on-screen view.
