My first Spider

My wife discovered this spider making a home near our front door.
I ended up with a sore back bending over my tripod adjusting for the shot.
I used a Canon 100mm macro lens with the ringflash.

Ohhhhhhh I would have loved to have seen this one on my front door
Great shot..........looks to have a decent sized body, how big was it ???
I got the mail out of the letter box the other day and a huge Huntsman came out with it and jumped on my hand.......with that I threw the mail to the ground knocked the spider off my hand and just about had a pink fit right there bye the letter box
Spiders have the abilty to pump pure fear into most people just by their presence ........ Nicely Captured on our part ..... Skippy (Australia)

Thanks,
It was actually quite small. Here is the top view.
I'm sure I would have done the same!
Nicely done
Does it have other uses?
That is a great spider photo, IMO! Nice web, too!
I have one I like, but the whole thing was an accident that found me on a trail that looked like "spider row". No birds at all, just spiders.
I have wondered, saw someone once with a butterfly and a small thing that could be described as a "ring thingy".
I wondered if it weren't used w spiders. I doubt I will ever have one, not planning on visiting spider row again anytime soon.
But that is a very good photo you did!

Its worth remembering not to take lovely shots of spiders and the like, and then kill them.
Golden Orb's won't hurt you if you leave them alone and you have no doubt noticed that they keep flying insects down. They stay near the web and don't crawl around on the ground. They are not free roaming like the Huntsman.
That been said ,the ring flash seems to work well for this type of shot.
By the way..Huntsman stories-I was driving in my manual car ,into bright sun, in heavy traffic and ,as you do,pulled down the sun visor.
A very large Badge Hunstman- beautiful yet scary, some of them have a nasty bite.I will find a link for you.
Anyway...it plopped onto my lap.
Madness then erupted with the spider leaving my lap and proceeding up my chest towards my face.
High pitched sounds of fear were heard in the car.I was driving alone.
More frantic swishing erupted.
I then was able to pull over and got out of the car.
After much searching I was forced to get back in the car and resume my trip ,never finding it.
