I just bought a linksys router.
Can someone tell me if this is easy to set up for Mac computers?
Or should I have it installed by a professional.

Thankyou

    Should be easy.

Are you wiring your Mac to the Linksys, or using wireless?
    Sid.

I use a linksys, and it was a SNAP! Linksys has a cool online help feature too, I can't remember the exact URL, something to do with "netset".

I don't know if the same thing applies in the Mac environment, but my recommendation is to get the router working first, wireless second (i.e. direct connect to the router from the computer).

You may have to change settings on the router when you are first configuring it and it's possible to lose access temporarliy if you accidently misconfigure the wireless portion of the setup.

The windows version of the linksys software was a snap, so hopefully they've done the same great job for the Mac.

They did, because I did not change ANYTHING when my Mac Pro came in, I just plugged the router into the ethernet port and the Mac did the rest!

Well I havent been able to the a little time to try it out.
    hopefully this week .

Although , when I first hooked up the ethernet wire it did everything for me.

So hopefully I will be able to get it hooked up without any problems.

Setting up wireless is pretty painless.

Just make sure you reconfigure all your security options or you will be servicing the entire neighborhood.

And... write all your changes down.
