I know its been done a bazillion times before but I felt like shooting something last night so I asked my wife to get a few roses and set up a "mini studio"...a wooden stool and a black sheet. I turned off the light in the living room (except for the TV) and turned on the bathroom light which was behind the setup.

I blended two exposures in CS2 to get the look I was after.


Canon 300D, 300mm f/4L, Tripod, Cable release
ISO 400, f/8, 2 exposure 2 & 15 sec

Nicely done, but it looks like a few of the edges on the pedels are blown, and, IMHO, that does detract from the picture. A little more detail in the vase would have been nice also.

I like the soft glow of these roses, but not the vase they're in.
The roses themselves have that dreamy look about them.

Thanks for the comments. I don't think we have a vase right now. I haven't given up on this shot...just may have to get a vase and re-shoot it.
