UCLA Japanese Garden

On Friday, I visited the UCLA Hanna Carter Japanese Garden. It's a fairly small garden (a little over an acre) located amongst the millionaires of Bel-Air. You have to make a reservation to get in, and time is limited to 50 minutes.
The focal point of the garden is a coi pond at the bottom of the hill. Very peaceful.
Although secluded, there is a lot of traffic nearby (especially construction trucks). The waterfalls create a little bit of isolation.
Along the way up the hill, there's a bamboo stand which shields the gardening hut from view (partially).
Not too much was blooming, some water lillies, and this colorful flower. ID anyone? I asked the docent, and promptly forgot what he said!
At the top of the hill, a buddhist shrine is guarded by two stone Chinese lions. Here's one of them.
It was a very pleasant (if short) visit. There's also a small bonsai area, an outdoor bath, and small pagoda. Enough stuff for a next time.
Hope you enjoyed the visit... C&C always welcome. Click the pics for EXIF.

Thanks, Tom! I definitely felt a little pressed for time. I may have to go back for a lunch break sometime... nice and peaceful.
Nice captures!
I wish I could go with you, but... I work on Fridays...
Next time:-)
Thanks Nik... yep, that's the problem with this place, it's only open Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Fridays from 10am - 3pm. Not easy for working people to get to without a day off.
Nice set.
