Just a recent visit to the Queen. An old steam powered oceanliner that sits as a hotel and a tourist attraction in Long Beach, CA.
The whole gallery with descriptions are here. http://tomyi.smugmug.com/gallery/575086/1

But did you go inside that Russion Skorpion submarine?

You haven't lived until you banged your head on all that low-clearnace piping and valves!

Maybe I'll scan my old pictures of when I went in that bucket of bolts!

    Ha ha ha,
Nah, I haven't stepped inside the Russian Sub. It looks too cramped in there and I'm scared about banging my gear on railings or such.
It would seem too cramped to shoot in there as well. But I guess I could be wrong.

Maybe next time I'm there. I'm fairly content with my QM gallery for now and don't plan on going back for a whle.

Thanks Skippy. The ship is fun. They pretty much let you explore most of the ship. It's almost like a treasure hunt for photogs, walking around pretty much everywhere on the ship. The ship is old too, so it's got a lot of character as well. Not like those big boxy cruiseships in use today.

Thanks, I do think that Queen Mary is an under utilized place for photographers in the LA area. At places like the Getty Museums or the Huntington Library/Gardens, you always see a lot of photogs there, but not so at the QM. I think we saw one other with a dslr the whole day.

I'll have to try and get down there some time. The last time I went to the QM it was about 1984! Sounds like there's a lot of freedom to shoot and great subjects.

All my previous shots in the sub were from disposable film cameras, and they came out just fine. You shouldn't have any problems either unless all you have is like a 500mm telephoto lens!rolleyes1.gif

Oh, all right: I'll just have to scan in a few and send them your way, "just for grins"!
