An early morning, overcast shot of an osprey with a fish at SJWS.

A couple of Cooper's Hawks from Bolsa.

Another shot of one of the Coopers.

One of the Coopers landed just above my head and I managed to get an extreme backlit shot before he flew off.
I comped it with a sunset shot for the hell of it.

Sweet shots. I like the 2nd and 4th. The 4th would have been really nice IMHO if the bird wasn't cluttered by the background. I dig the idea though.

Thanks Jeff! They were fairly cooperative, but took off when I got too close. They did not go very far though. Did not get the nice blue bkg on my osprey shot, like you did.

Thanks David! I agree with you on the 4th, it needs a bit of work. It's too bad I did not get a bit of separation of the cooper's hawk's tail and the branch.

    You guys amaze me
First of all, I don't even know where to look for a raptor. Secondly, I'd have to get a big honkin lens, then use a phone pole for a tripod..Laughing.gif. No, really, these are stunning photographs. Most excellent work. Love them.

I love the 4th one. I think I actually like the lighter gray clutter in the background. it gives the shot 3 levels. The flat gray background, the darker gray clutter, and the shadowed hawk with branches and leaves. love it!!

That Coopers Hawk sure looks a lot like the Redtailed Hawks that we have around here. headscratch.gif

    Nice ones. :D

Thanks Ric! :D They're alot smaller than redtails, and their tails are significantly longer. These guys are juveniles and don't have their adult plummage.

The one that does it for me is the B&W backlit shot. Its very good, extremely interesting. I am not much for flora and fauna but this one is great!

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
