I've been doing some checking about getting a slave flash unit with a bracket to use with my p&s camera. I'm looking for something not over 50 bucks or so. I found this at B&H. Can anyone tell me if this is any good or not, and if it isn't are there any out there that would be what I'm looking for? Since it may be awhile till I get a dSLR, I decided I may as well go ahead and enjoy my p&s as much as possible! Please impart to me your knowledge! :D

The one major thing I can see wrong with it is the power output is fixed. There's a LOT of times when max power will be overkill, especially doing macro work.

Ok, I see what you mean. Just remember when youare making suggestions I'll be using this with my G600 P&S. Any suggestions on something that work for me? That would still be fairly cheap? Lol

Actually it appears the big brother to the model you posted from B&H has automatically variable output. Not ever having used a slave flash (other than Canon's wireless type with two 550EX's), I don't know how effective the output adjustment would be, but I'd figgure it'd be better than nothing. As long as your camera has (at least) ISO control or aperature priority (which I can't tell from DPreview's camera database for the G600), you can at least "use" a bit less of the flash.

My camera has ISO 50, 100, 200, 400, and apetures 2.8/4.7 - 4.9/8.3. THat's at WA and Tele for the camera, which is 8-24mm zoom. I guess being able to stop down the flash would be pretty useful.
