I could have shot at 200mm but I wanted to get the surface detail of the statue so I took up close shots (1 & 2). And the one you posted as a scene setter. For some reason statue skin is hard to capture correctly. That is why I had my manual flash on.
There was no higher vantage point as can be seen from the last shot.
But next time I will try your suggestions (200 mm and overhead with my F-828 swivel body).
I like that the statue can be isolated against the sky for a simple background. SO many statues I have wished to photograph I cannot isolate from all the fences, lights, and railings in the background...
Now I understand how the WWW language works without a verb or two.
Thank you for the answer and the link. I can now update my gallery.
Did you like the Statue?

Yeah, I was in a hurry...
I like the statue, I think the thing attaching one of his legs to the frame is a bit odd, but I do like it. I guess it didn't get great reviews at the time, huh?

I wonder how this would look shot with a telephoto and from a
higher POV (farther back as well)?

Hello Ian408 & DJ-S1 ,
There are many ways to take a picture.

DJ, sorry, your reply went over my head.

The name of the statue is Rocket Thrower by Donald De Lue, it was made for the '64 World's Fair.
