Yesterday I managed to get half a day off before being called back into work :rolleyes ........... I have only managed to sort through a few shots so far.

None of these images are cropped they are all hand held, and all using the same setup, edited with Photoshop Elements 3

Canon 20D + Tamron Tele Converter + Kenko Tube 33mm + Canon 100mm Macro Lens + Canon 580 External Flash + Difuser.
Camera set to Manual Mode.......again thank you Brian :thumb

Nice shots, Skippy. I especially like the butterfly shot as you got that coil well. :cool

We've got a lot of Sphynx (sp?) moths around here, and they're one of only a few moth species that can eat as adults. But they keep their coils so well buried when not sipping nectar that I can never see more than about a third of the outermost winding.

Hi there Thusie.....someone else on this forum is using this exact same setup, and I can't for the life of me think who it is........ I saw this person post a shot and list the equipment they used and I said to myself, hey I have all that gear I will give this a try too :D

The results are really pleasing.......... next time I will take off the 33mm tube and use the next size down, the 33mm is way too close for the butterflies the working distance is really limited, and I couldnt move far away from them, not even far enough away to get a whole butterfly in.

This I am excited about because I know the setup works, now its a matter of just replacing the Tubes to different sizes, and seeing what works best with whatever it is your trying to photograph at the time :D

    Thanks for looking........... Skippy (Australia)

Hi Antonio........... actually those flowers grow upside down, I dont know what they are called but the flowers faced away from the sun and all you see is the under petals, I thought they looked odd and bent down to touch them and notice they all had flowers under them so I turned one over.

Thanks for looking Antonio........... Skippy (Australia)

Its amazing how long coils are when you see them sipping.

They are such delicate little creatures, I enjoy watching them.

    These are great shots Skippy
I really dig the flower, especially. Very interesting type. Cool soft colors and focused just right. Heh, yea...centered shots. Try hanging upside down and tilt the camera a bit for a more interesting angle...Laughing.gif
