    That’s one ambitious moth!

Nice picture. Sometimes at night we have large moths, about the size of Hummingbirds. They used to like our Honeysuckle but I never could get a picture of one. No way to get focus lock in the dark, and any light drove them away.

A Cecropia (sp?) moth! A male--you can tell by the feathery antennae they need to sniff out the females.

The last time I saw one of those was when I was a kid in Wisconsin, after finding a cocoon and keeping it to see what would come out.thumb.gif

Ok here ya go a PROPER ID!
    It's a Polyphemus Moth.
    (Antheraea polyphemus)

Because of the conspicuious eyespot on each hind wing, this moth is named after Polyphemus the one eyed giant of Greek Myths.

    Thank you.....thank you very much.
