I hope to be getting into digital photography soon, I have a 35mm Nikon N80 SLR, and I enjoy shooting action sports (snowboard, skateboard) I also like nature, I hope to get a used Nikon body with a shutterspeed minimum of 1/4000, minimum of 3 fps for sequences. Any suggestions for a broke hopeful?

Pretty much all of the Nikon (and Canon) DSLRs will do 3fps and 1/4,000 of a sec, although that's the max for most of them. There actually aren't that many DSLRs in the world, so it wouldn't take long to research basic stuff like frame rate and shutter speed for pretty much all of them. To get a cheap one, look for older models or used versions on ebay, here, or other forums where trading is done.

If you want real speed on a budget and aren't too worried about resolution, go for a used Nikon D1H. This was the first Nikon DSLR designed for professional sports photographers. It can do 5fps for up to 40 shots and has a max shutter speed of 1/16,000. It's only about 2.75mp, but that's fine for posting shots on the web or printing out at 4x6 I imagine. You can see them on ebay every so often. Right now there's a posting on Canada's ebay site for pretty cheap used one.

All this is just what I found on the net in 10 minutes, so if I'm wrong about anything, someone please chime in (like I have to ask mwink.gif). Good luck,

    Fred.

I'm not really too lazy to research this, but I found this forum at school, and wanted to post something before I had to leave, I'll look into it some more (of course) thanks for everything.:D

Sorry, I wasn't accusing you of being lazy - I usually combine my internet and in-store research with posting quesions. I also know that it can be daunting trying to enter the digital world (have you seen how many kinds of P&S digitals there are???) so I just wanted to let you know that the DSLR range wasn't as huge as you might have thought. thumb.gif

What do you mean by P&S, point and shoot?, If I've got this right, you don't actually need to reply, cuz I guess that makes sense
