Ok, so this is my son being nice to his sister for once. lol This wasn't long after I had them sitting next to eachother facing the water and she (7 months old) was practically pulling him over because she wanted to stand up and his shirt seemed like a good thing to grab hold of. lol

Anyway, I captured this. I used the conversion in the new PSP XI in the timeline feature and it converted it for me and it added the shaded outline also.

C&C always welcome...

Ok, after suggestions of having it darker than the one's I converted without the border, here is another attempt.

This is just beautiful. You captured a priceless moment. thumb.gif

I don't have a strong opinion about the shading.

A great shot and nice b&w conversion- but the PP border I could do without.

You might want to straighten up the horizon a bit- just my $.02.
    Thanks!

I agree - could do without the border.

    Lovely shot however.

I'll hop on the bandwagon and say the border is the ONLY thing not good about this shot.
You definately captured magic through glass on this one.

Thanks for the compliments and the advice. i am loosing the border for sure! I actually thought it took away from the picture. But in PSP XI i was just messing around trying out some of the new features and this was a conversion it did in a timeline feature, it added the border automatically. But i will convert it my self so I can loose the border.

I think this is one of those shots that I will be able to look at when they are fighting and go, there was a day. lol

I never even noticed the horizon, thanks for that tip too, going to change that also. Thankssss!

I added the changed photos up top!

Honestly I prefer the contrast in the original shot! :):

But if i had to choose between #1 and #2 i'd go with #2.

Ah crap, lol, just typical, should've just stuck with the orig and lost the border.

I will have to work on the converting again and try to keep it darker with more contrast. And absolutely no border. :D

Really beautiful capture, and as a father of a similar pair, I know these tender moments are rare! I too like the contrast in the original shot the best, but could also do without the border.

    Congrats on a fantastic capture.

Thank-you so much, I can't wait to put this shot on my wall, I know there will be very few moments like this as they grow up, so I better take good care of the one I have. lol

I darkened the contrast, but not as dark as the original, wondering if you like it this way?

    Added to the original post.

I prefer the contrast in the PP version but like the others agree that it is good you are ditching the border. But then again black and white conversions are so personal...you are the one who is going to be looking at it on your wall for some time...do what looks best to you :)

Wonderful photo by the way, truly a rare and beautiful moment.

    Beautiful shot.
    Prefer the simple edge treatment.
Why not crop this to 5 x 4 rather than keeping in all the empty space at the left?

I tried cropping it, but for some reason I just didn't like it. I swear I went back and forth trying to decide and decide why, but i just didn't like the feel of it cropped, why I'm not sure, but maybe it's better cropped, shoot I don't know. lol

Thanks for all your replies, I do very much appreciate it.

So, I just got home from visiting my parents, where I had originally edited the photos, I had thought my mom's monitor may be off, but holy smokes did I see how off my mom's monitor was when I got home. Live and learn, that's for sure. It really made these look much darker than on my monitor.

That's why I need a good laptop to take with me. lol Maybe that's a way to justify it even more. hahahaha
