Preying....

I went to get in the car the other day, and found this little guy on the trunk...

I let my twin 5 year old girls take him to kindergarten today, which was a big hit. When I came home we let him go in our back yard. This is his parting shot, as he made his way up one of our bushes. I thought it was kind of cool because I've seen only like 4 of these guys in 40+ years.

Once I let him out I was like, hey-I should have taken a photo!:doh

So I ran in and grabbed the digital Rebel, threw on the 300L F4 IS and snapped a couple of handheld shots before he disappeared. :D

ISO 400, 1/200 IS on.

I always like seeing photos of Preying Mantis. I like seeing them in the wild even better, but I haven't seen any this year. Some years we have them and some years we don't.

    Thanks for sharing

    Nice capture.

One of the nicest things of photography is that most captures have a story.
When the time come that your twins bringing boyfriends and girl troubles, you look at this picture and remember the time when their "huge problems" where manageable.

    Thanks for sharing.

I can relate to the "4 in 40" thing. Same here...

We moved 4 years ago and now I see them quite often.

    Very nice parting shot.:D
