This afternoon I rented an AF-S 70-200 f/2.8 VR. $35, Friday through Monday. One problem: I don't pick it up until Oct. 6. :cry

I gots plans for it though. :D

    becareful, i had that lens for 3 days. it is addictive. it was a really sad day when i had to return it.

    That seems really cheap. Where from? Local place or somewhere big?

    Yep. David Knight vs. Juha Salminen (and a host of others) at the St. Clairsville, OH, Grand National Cross Country round. I've never attended an off-road race, never mind photographed one, so I figured some primo glass might help me out a bit. I'll be renting a good flash too, for those woods shots.

    Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun. You riding over there?

    Spraying mud and a bit of wheel spin go a long way, from what I've seen. And jumps with people in the foreground, for scale. A bit of tilt to exaggerate lean sometimes seems to work, too.
