I want to take some high speed photos, like exploding balloons or an egg crashing the floor, etc.

I am considering a sound trigger to get the flash fired.

Do anybody knows the Wein SST H-Prong Super Sound Trigger???

I cant find any information about that.

Or what other thing might be useful (not expensive..., I found one for $2,800...)

I have no answer for you however i always thought that this high speed stuff was done only with a sync'd strobe light type set up ?

What I found on the internet is that you need strong fast strobe lights*. Set the camera on bulb ( on a dark room ) and with the help of a sound trigger, fire the strobes.

    * Here in my school we have a studio with a lot of strobes and stuff.

    Shutter-Beam
I'm awaiting delivery of a Shutter-Beam as it wanders across the pond into the hands of customs.

I'm looking at remote shooting of passing vehicles.

This unit also works on sound but may be a bit expensive ne_nau.gif

I'll report back in due course.

This MIGHT work for you: http://www.makezine.com/04/strobe/ works well ... but you build it yourself (a kit is available).

You can modify the "kit's" pre-built trigger to fire most any strobe. I scratch-built one from the schematic a bit over a year ago and it did just fine ... canibalized it later for another project. It was a fun project.

    WOW, that seems really good.

I will try first with the hiviz.com DIY (thanks rjpat)

And then if I like this type of photos, Ill consider the Shutter Beam.

    Thank you all.

high speed photo using sound trigger
Years ago I used to use a Wein sound trigger in photographing bullets.
I am a reloader and had a 357 Python. I would load my bullets to come as close to the speed of sound (1100fps). I live in the woods, at night I would set up a strobe and put my RB67 on a tripod. The sound trigger would be placed at certain intervals near the gun. The Rb would be left open and there would not be a modeling light left on.
I managed to take pics of bullets close to coming out of the barrel and sequence from there outward. It was cool. I also did sequencing shots of my daughter walking across a log which turned out great.
The sound trigger has vanished so I have been looking for one also.

While the Wein sound trigger was discontinued years ago, and pretty hard to find, you may be able to build your own gated trigger. Take a look at the following which links to both sound and light-curtain based triggers:

I've seen the hiviz kit (with a few mods), and it works well, especially for the money. I'd like to get one, but had only seen the DIY kit, and I'm not electronically handy enough to feel comfy putting it together myself, so I haven't gotten one yet, but now that I see the pre-assembled triggers, I'm gonna have to get one.
BTW, Casfoto, I'd love to see some of your bullet photos...
