    At first it looks like a cable that is split..........but I know thats not what it is.

    That's what I WANT to call it. It's almost as big, but has a yellow abdomen.

    I got into a fight w/ a killer mutant mosquito and I will never forget that mouth.
    What you are looking at is the stylet bundle and the labium.

    And I was a physics major. Go figure...headscratch.gif

    Don't care whether you say it's not. Here's a pic of a mosqito mouth. (google search, not my shot. Low mag electron microscope shot)

    Fabulous image, that!

    As I shot some 80 images of the (whatever it is) myself, I think I know the difference between a mosquito and something more resembling a horsefly at my current age--especially as I've been bitten enough times by either vector!

    Mosquitos aren't the only things with piercing mouth parts having skin-breaching hardware, you might know.

    And finally, there's virtually NO Way I could have gotten a mosquito's mouth parts with what I was using. This is the BEST I can do with a mosquito:
