Newb W/ pics... Garden in West Hartford Ct.
Hello! New guy here. GLAD to finally find a Forum like this! I've got a lot of questions and I take a lot of pictures.
THese were taken in a Garden in West Hartford Connecticut, when I was home on leave. I've seen some of the pics y'all take.....You are all so far above my head I was getting dizzy when I was in the Lurking phase.
PLEASE! Be brutally honest! I can use all the advice I can get my hands on.
*whew* Here goes...

You came to the right place to learn!!
I'm not one to critic anyones pics but......
Not a bad shot.......just the background is distracting.
The leaf at bottom left is a no no.
I'd have liked at least the 1st row of flowers in perfect focus.
Just takes a lotta trial and error.....been there and still doing that now and then!

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
We have soem wicked sunrises and sunsets. One of these days I'll get up earlier to grab some sunrise shots.

Here are some suggestions
#1 The tree doesn't really serve a purpose. The sky is brillant, show the sky with nothing else to detract from it.
#2-3 With a narrower depth of field you could have controlled the BG easier and brought more attention to the flowers. With flowers this beautiful they needed to be isolated more with a BG as soft as you could get it.
#4 Cool
$5 What attracted you to shoot these? Colors right? If you changed your angle (higher, abouve the flowers) you could have illiminated the BG (which just detracts from the flowers). From there you would have had to just decide what you wanted in focus for creative expression.
hope this helps, shane
