Data is transferred by gigabit ethernet from the sensor to the storage device. The portable storage device is a computer in itself with most advanced characteristics in processing, disk space and memory.
...then scrolled down to the tech specs and sure enough, the "gigabit Ethernet storage device" is a complete Mac mini. With maxed-out RAM. And two OSs on it?
Portable Mac Mini 1.66Hz Intel Core Duo (2 MB Cache, 2 GB RAM, Mac OS X, Windows XP)
For 37G's, you'd expect it to have its own built-in buffer. 1, 2, maybe 4 gb. That's how most all hi-speed cameras (including the one in my lab work). You can fill the buffer, then transfer by gigabit-ethernet.

160 million pixel panoramics! Whoa, put me down for 2. I don't think it's instantaneous imaging, so it might make some cool "stretch" effects.
