Software to purchase

I am relatively new to digital photography. I am thinking about buying some new software. Currently I have photoshop 6.0 and have downloaded the adobe lightroom beta 3.

From what I have seen thus far I realy like lightroom. However, it seems that a person would still need Photoshop for some of the editing tools (such as cloning). I realize that no single piece of software will cover all my wants, but if I were to buy just one application (for now) what would you recomend.

I am running a PC with 2 gig ram and 3.2 GHz processor.

IMO you would need additional software on top of Lightroom.

Have you looked at PSE 5? Pretty darn powerful.

Thanks Andy, I downloaded the trial for PSE 4.0 (No trail avail. for PSE 5)
