Computerized Remote... ideas?

I was about to buy a remote for my sony a100, and when I checked the prices I was astonished.
Long story short, as I have some knowledge on electronic circuits, I'm thinking about making my own remote, with a few extra features:
- Plain remote with two stages: AF and shutter
- Timed shots (i.e.: take one picture every 2 minutes)
- Long exposure shots. My camera goes up to 30 seconds, I want to be able to "dial in" 3 minutes and 5 seconds and forget about it.
- Long exposure calculator. For example: if the camera is reading F4.5 @30 seconds, I want to be able to type in this info and let it calculate the shutter from F22 or f-stop from shutter at 50 sec.
- Pluging outlet for other accessories such as motion detector, sound detector, circuit break detector and so on.
My question is: is there such device in the market? If not, and suppose I make one, do you think people would be interested in it? I suspect it will have a very small market, but I could be wrong.
Cheers

Not sure about the Sony but Canon have some of the features you
mention. However. when it comes to full control, I'm not sure any
of the vendors offer anything like you're after.
