Hello All!!!

I have been a Smugmugger for about a month now and only today realized there was a forum:scratch Looks like I have been missing out!!!

Anyway, I thought this would be a great place to ask about my lens

I have a Canon RebelXT and have been in the last couple of weeks had some problems with it and my lens.

I kept getting a code 99 on the camera which indicates a problem with a non canon lens. I contacted the lens company and they said send it right away...we'll fix it, these two things led me to believe that this must be a common occurance, and i wondered if anyone else here has had the same problem???:bluduh The camera is less than 3 months old and the lense less than a year. :bs

Before you send it in, take the lens off, clean the electrical contacts on both lens and camera, take the battery out and put it back in. Put lens back on, fire up camera. see if that fixes it

I tried all those things, I had a shoot the weekend before I sent it in so I had to do everything possible to help it work. I cleaned it and it still happened, not with my smaller lense just with this one, so we(the lens company and my camera dealer and myself ) decided it was definitly the lens.

    Thanks for the suggestion though:):

I have same problem with my Tamron 75-300 4/5.6.
The only difference is that I get the error when the focal lenght on the lense is above 200mm. Turn it a bit above and you get it but anything below is fine.
It started doing this since one of the RallyX events i shot. It was a lot of dust flying around that day so i figure it just got dirty inside or something.
I don't worry about it too much now since "Santa" brought me a nice Canon EF 70-300 IS USM clap.gif
I will most likely send the Tamron to get it fixed and try to sell it or use it as a backup. ne_nau.gif
