Dilemma and went to downtown today to get some shooting in.
Overcast, ugly skies, but what the heck, you take the shot, and play with
it in post.

Smugmug's having a hard time with the original, so I changed it to large.

    2 3 4 are really nice. 1 feels a bit cut off.

In 3 I'd try and rotate it so the comcrete wall that is the left edge of the staircase is perfectly vertical.

    Thanks guys.
I'm surprised no one has told me how crummy the blue sky looks in the one shot. ne_nau.gif

3 is a tough one. Lots of vertical lines with a wide angle lens.
I was pretty happy getting the lines on the edges fairly straight.

That first pick is the same way. But I gave it a shot.
I can't quite get the bows out of the vertical lines.

original from the camera. Did I mention that I took these with my

I like that alot better for the 1st pic. The added sidewalk makes a dif.

As far as vertical lines and wide angles, I tend to feel that the lines in the center of the pic should be as close to vertical as possible, that way the effect of the lens is even on both sides and looks as if it's due to the lens. Whent he center of the pic is off it appears that ithe whole pic is skewed. That being said, in pic 1 ya have to pic right or left since you're coming at the subject on a a strong angle to being with. Play with it until it feels right.

I like the way you frame your shots. You look at things very similar to the way I do. mwink.gif

Love no 2 & the last 1. No 2 because its very Mondrian. I don't mind the fact that there's no blue sky, makes it more a graphic monotone. I like the last one because of the way you've got the reflection of the building lined up nicely in the glass of the other building. It almost looks like a mosaic.

    Thanks again guys.

The first photo is more about who shops at Ralph Lauren.
The benz in the reflection had a dealers plate, with a sticker price of 88 grand.

    Thanks again guys.

That info could help me in the future Andy, Thanks.

For a couple of hours, Smugmug just didn't want to show the original size.
I had the picture linked to a couple of different spots, so I didn't want to
delete and re-upload. So I just changed it to the large size. The original
is working fine now, so it was probably just a little gremlin dinging with me. :D

I like the series. I like the elements of architecture in the city. It has been some time since I was in Minneapolis...did you happen to capture the government building...I think it had a glass atrium. Made for a good evening shot if I remember. Thanks.

Looks like I'm going to be different from all the rest (so what else is new?). I have to say I like the series, but I really like this one

It's the symetry of the thing, maybe?

    Thanks again everyone.

I don't think we got to the government building, but then again, I really don't
know what buildings we did take shots of. There are only 2 buildings I can
identify in downtown Minneapolis, the Foshay Tower, because it says
Foshay on it, and the IDS building, the tallest building in downtown. (at least I think it still is)

Sorry, but I don't know all the building names, I just took pictures of images that I liked.

Scott, I liked the bike shot also. I wished I would have left just a bit more room on the right side though.
