our troop constructed a rope bridge

boys worked hard to insure its success

turned out well and strong

young scouts got to try it out first

Sorry about just posting snapshots, but I'm awfully proud of these scouts and I think it's a really good thing. My only real soap box issue.

The scouts are a mixed bag. Underlying racial and religous discrimination prevents me from fully endorsing the Scouting mission. No doubt it can be a positive experience for kids, but it's in the hands of the adults running the show, and I'm far too sceptical to buy into that with blind faith.

Looks like it was fine day to be out teaching rope and knot skills.

You're really right about how it's controlled by those adults running the show. We act more independently than most troops here because we don't blindly buy into anything. But we do grow boys that can think for themselves, provide more for themselves and have higher levels of self esteem than most kids. And they are the most helpful kids you can run into. So, for our troop, we're doing good for the boys.

    Thanks.

It sounds like you're doing alot of good for the kids. That's the way the scouts should be. Hope i didn't offend you.

heck no. I understand. when all they see are the newspaper headlines, then we got some 'splaining to do. when folks find out that we're raising good humans they support us. it's all about finding out the truth. thumb.gif

yep, just nothing really, photographically outstanding about any of my shots. Just run of the mill snapshots. I take tons of them for the guys and their families. we have a dynomite slideshow each year during our pancake breakfast...families come to eat and stay to watch the pictures. I hookup a digital projector to my laptop and project to the giant screen on the stage. There are usually 400 shots in rotation. Like this:

There are lots more shots if you'd like to take a gander. Thanks for looking!

the scout troop i am in is all boy-run, the adults are more there to suggest ideas and make sure nothing goes horribly wrong.:D we're also a little more lax than some of the troops around here though. one kid slept through breakfast so we duct-taped him to the flagpole deal.gif

    scouting grows strong...teamwork skills rolleyes1.gif

we also are boy-run, that's the spirit of scouting. It's their troop, we just act as rudders AFTER the boat gets overturned so lessons are learned. We just make sure the adult leaders have a boat with outriggers.
