Get a grip?

Not long ago I saw a review (by Andy?) of a source for handgrips. Now I can't find it :scratch but have a general question about using one.

I have attached the neck strap that came with the camera body, and since it is not easy to remove, just leave it on. But when using a tripod especially, it really bugs me - always in the way.

My question is: does a handstrap negate the need to have the neck strap attached? It seems that the strap can be pretty 'handy' :wink when walking about.

Here is Andy's review of the Hand straps

Also Check out the strap here model N-5057 (and others)

    http://www.tamrac.com/welcome.htm

It has quick release clips on it that make using the camera on a tripod a little less awkward

I am seriously thinking about getting one of these handstraps and would use it as Andy has, with the neckstrap mounted so the camera is hanging 'portrait' mode

Another option is the Op/Tech straps. That's what I use, the quick releases on the camera clip together & can be used as a handstrap.

Looking at the Tamrac one mentioned, I don't know which is a ripoff of which, but they look about the same.

    The are all good
Op-Tech/Tamron/Whichever, they are all good, test them out to see which you prefer the most. The fact that you can remove the dtrap easily is the real bonus when using the camera on a tripod! 8-)

I personally like the Tamron one as it has a couple of pouches fitted to carry spare memory cardsclose at hand.

Thanks for the info and links guys. thumb.gif

The quick release is what I need for tripod work. Maybe I just that for the neck strap and can do without the hand grip.

I will check my local camera store to see if they have any of these. Seems like one of those items you need to try before you buy.
