I need some suggestions: small handheld

I was hoping some digrin members might have some good suggestions for my particular needs.

I am an avid mountain biker and like to take photos while I am out on the trails. These photos are generally shots of people riding or scenery.
I am looking for a replacement for my Canon SD100

My requirements.
It must be very small. No bigger than a Canon S400 (S410) [3.4 x 2.2 x 1.1 inches (87 x 57 x 28 millimeters)]
It should have a reasonable optical zoom (2-3x at least)
SD card or Compact Flash
Fast startup times
Easy one handed operation
Great color (like my trusty s410s that have died 4 times already)

Basically I need a small camera that takes great photos that I can store in a pocket and whip out at a moments notice ready for a photo. I like taking them when I am riding so the one handed easy operation is critical.

The SD100 does a great job at all these, but the picture quality isn't the greatest and its ability to take quick action shots is limited.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Jon

edit: I was very tempted by the new Canon SD40 until I read the SD30's picture quality is not as good as the SD20....

been looking at the fuji f30...it is tempting.
the only problem is the bright day sharpness issues discussed on dpreview
    thanks for the other suggestions.

the 700IS got an outstanding review on dpreview, and I love the canon colors.
