I usually try to take more 'traditional' sports photos, but I like this and I wanted to see if you guys think this counts as a sports photo, or more of a lifestyle/artsy shot. If there was a story in a newspaper or magazine about surfing, would you want to see this shot next to it?

Don't really know the best way to categorize it, but I certainly like it.

As for it's use - I could see it more as an advertisement shot than a shot about surfing itself. It's strong point is the color and aesthetic quality which I think works well for a travel ad. If I was reading about surfing I think I would want a stronger, more extreme shot.

I think it is a good shot and could be considered as sports shot. But would rather see the light giving the surfer more detail than the light in behind the surfer. I do think it could be used as a add type photo for the location it was take at.

I think its a GREAT shot. If you put that up for sale as a stock photo I bet it would get picked up.
