Page won't open

I'm having a problem navigating from some pages. When I press "your photos" it directs me to http//snapapple.smugmug.com. Then I get the "sorry we can't open that page" message from my browser. If I go up to the address bar and type in www. in front of snapapple or www.susanappelphotography.com, then I can get back to my site. I click on "smugmug" on my home page to log in and then "your photos" to get back to my site. So this happens every time I want to get into my site. Do I need to make a change over at Godaddy?

    Hi,

So, when you login from the Smugmug home page, it directs you to http://snapapple.smugmug.com. That gives you a "sorry we can't open that page" message? That's odd, because I can type in http://snapapple.smugmug.com and get to your site fine.

Yep, that's what happens. I'm wondering if it's just me. If so, maybe I need to put something into ZoneAlarm, or my browser?

Hmmm. I just tried it and it worked. My site came up. I don't understand it. That's the first time it has worked in two weeks.

And at GoDaddy you changed the CNAME to www.smugmug.com, right? And in your control panel, you put www.yourname.com, right?

Hm, I'll be honest, I have no idea. I suppose ZoneAlarm could be doing something whacky. Be sure and check that. If one of the other folks here who know more about the custom host stuff than me (which is pretty much everyone - haha) doesn't see this, bump it tomorrow so someone else can see what might be happening.

We had some problems last night with the site, so if you were experiencing this then, that might be an explanation. Also, I forgot to ask if you had waited 24-48 hours after changing your info at GoDaddy. Sometimes it takes that long for everything to gel.

Whatever the reason, if it's working now, yay!

I know my CNAME is set up that way. I was thinking maybe I also needed to have something to say it had to go to http://snapapple... as well.
I'll check my control panel again, but I'm pretty sure that's the way it is.

You have it right. I checked your control panel. And you have the CNAME right, also. As long as it is pointing to www.smugmug.com, it's correct.

Maybe it was just a glitch and it has worked it's way out. Sometimes, things get weird!

    Thanks Barb.
While I have your attention, one more question.
I just got a new domain name at Godaddy- AppelImages.com. I put that on my homepage, but I have not set it up yet at Godaddy. I'm wondering which step comes first, direct it at Godaddy or in my control pane. If I set it up at Godaddy to redirect to snapapple by a CNAME, it won't find it. It a what comes first, the chicken or the egg, question.

If you haven't seen that page.

I would just do them at the same time. They say it takes 24-48 hours for it all to be right; however, I have seen it take far less time than that.
