Ok, I had originally tried to go with a website at startlogic.com. It was recommended to me. I could not figure out how to get the site how I wanted it at all and they did not have a wonderful forum like this with all the support and everything so that I actually could get up an running. So I cancelled my hosting with them and came here. I had already bought a domain name through them and they wouldn't refund the money and said I could just transfer it. I have asked and asked how to transfer it over here and they are not helping me. I have asked for the CNAME just like it says to do in th ehelp section and nothing. Do you guys know what I can do? I have already given out business cards with my domain name, but no one can get to my site! Help!

Hmm. On their main page, they say there's a 30 day money-back guarantee. It's been longer than 30 days? You should have access to some kind of control/user panel where you can set various account settings, including how your domain is set up. You should be able to leave them as the domain host (doesn't matter who provides the domain name) and point it where ever you like, if you have access to those settings. Tap around and see if you can find out how to access those settings.

Ugh, so sorry you are having trouble. The terrible thing is, it's so easy yet some of these domain hosts make it out like it's rocket science. Demand that they set up CNAME Alias to www.smugmug.com or just leave them - you can move your domain to any where else, we have a list of faves in our help sections.

    Holler if we can help

Thanks, guys! I don't see why they make it so difficult! Grrr! Yeah, it has been less than 30 days. I will give them today and see what happens.

..AND one of the top 5 which Smugmug provides specific, step-by-step instructions on how to setup here. I use GoDaddy also and they've been a dream.

I have to give GoDaddy a strong rec also. I have six names with them and its been easy and no problems.

I hope you get it worked out.

OK, I did put in a transfer to GODaddy, but since my domain name is so new they won't transfer it for 60 days. I FINALLY got an email from startlogic that tells me how to get into the control panel. Now I am not sure how to change things so it points to my smugmug website. Would that be under "Manage Nameserver Accounts" and if so exactly how would I change the server? I know the best thing would be to have a CNAME, but they won't give it to me and I need for people to be able to go to my website until I can get it transferred with Go Daddy so whatever I can do to get it pointed at my smugmug website would be great. Who can help me??
