This is the monitor that I have and it's absolutely great.

Sony has discontinued this monitor.....originally over $2000!

Be aware you will need a powerful video card and a power supply that will handle it. (latest drivers are a good idea too)

    Ric,

    I think I hate you! rolleyes1.gif

One more thing to put on my lust list. Of course, I'm sure that when I finally work my way down to this item, it will not be available.

But, I can use this link to torment my better halfclap.gifclap.gif

    Thanks!

wings.gif Hey, I waited 18 months....and the price dropped from $2400 to the $1050 I paid. If a new monitor is in your future, I would advise you to not let this one pass you by. Tell your dear wife that it comes with a 3 year warranty! mwink.gif

    Hi Ric,

I have seen a few recent notes on this LCD because of how cheap it has become and have looked at getting one but I use a KVM (1 monitor, keyboard, mouse) for 2 machines and was wondering if that LCD can take video input from both a VGA source and a DVI source and use the LCD OSD to switch the input? My second machine is file storage and DVD/CD burning so I only need the screen when burning discs.

The Dell 24" is still cheaper and rated better on cnet.com. It's also brighter and faster and has a boat load more features.

Just a note for video fans... my guess is that this monitor will *not* play commercial Blu-Ray or HD-DVD content. Its replacement probably will.

Dell advertises on cnet...you figure it out.headscratch.gif

Brighter is not better. After calibrating this monitor (properly) I only use 60% of the available brightness.

This monitor will *NOT* play commercial HD-DVD or Blu-Ray discs at their highest resolutions. My monitors are the same way and there's nothing wrong with that.

My point is that if this is important to you in the near future, then don't buy this monitor. Buy something with HDCP support (along with a compliant video card, too).

A good monitor can last at least 5 years... it's just something to consider, not necessarily a deal-breaker (and this is a good deal).

i've said it before and i'll say it again: the dell 24" is fantastic. i don't use the full brightness often, but it's nice to have. there are tons of great reviews of the dell monitor in other places besides cnet. i'm too lazy to link to them now, but i'm sure a google (or chacha.com) search will give you what you need.

The Dell is even cheaper if you want it from the Dell Outlet $679.
