Lexar CF 133x

I have a 20d. I have been using the 80x PRO. I need something a little faster. Has any one tryed the new 133x? Is there a diffrence with the pro card and the other card besides the free softwear?

The difference is write speed. I use Lexar Pro's (2GB) 133x (with a Sony). I've yet to wait for the cards to catchup even with continuous shooting (*edit* even in RAW).

Lexar has a comparison chart on their website that says:

Lexar defines "X" within its speed-rating system as equivalent to a minimum write speed capability of 150 kilobytes per second. Therefore, 40X would be equivalent to 6MB/s write speed, 60X would be 9MB/s write speed, 80X would be 12MB/s write speed and 133X would be 20MB/s write speed.

According the chart the software's the same. I haven't tried the software myself - the insert in the boxes said it provided undelete features, blah blah -- but at the cost of storage. Pass

Manufacturer speed ratings are pretty useless. Rely on actual measured tests, like those posted on the Rob Galbraith site.

I standardized on Sandisk Ultra II cards. You can see that on a 20D, the Ultra II has 95.6% of the speed of the Sandisk Extreme IV, without the extremely high price tag. (That tiny bit of extra speed is not worth consideration, IMHO.)

It is so much better having more cards than having fewer of the tiny bit faster cards.

Card speed also slows down as the card is filled, so for really fast sports/action stuff, I fill the cards to about 80% capacity, and then switch to an empty card.

Works great!
I use the Lexar 133, 1 GB and I have to agree with some of the other comments. I have never waited for the card. I would highly reccomend it.
