Can't wait until rainy season! I wonder how much of this is due to the fire?

I'd hope lots, but I doubt it.

Yeah, the rains can't come soon enough.

I think it's just a buildup of all the smoke/dust/sand/smog from the summer. But it sure is nasty looking near sunset.

Thanks for looking and commenting! Some day I'm gonna get a clear shot from this vantage point...

Actually, most of that is fire related. The inverson layer which allows LA pretty good weather all year round (check that .. when compared to other parts of this country lets make that 'exceptional weather') also traps particilates. The Feds have a standard for particulate air pollutants called PM10. It is believed that even back before the white man came to California that the Los Angeles basin wouldn't pass PM10 (the Native Americans named the LA "The Smokey Valley"). wierd huh...

    Nope, Bel-Air...

Nice info, Gary. Seattle also has its share of inversions, but they usually don't last nearly as long!

Funny, there was an article in the LA Times the other day that the LA Basin has regained the "Smog Capital" of the US title... whoopee!

Chris that's really a great view of the city...be sure to shoot it again for us after it rains!!! No doubt the fire has made a mess of things this month...We can see it from Orange looking at the sunsets.
