Our new Wiki has all the details.

For now, this is just a place to hang out with dgrinners and SmugMuggers. I'm hoping if it turns out to be useful enough that we'll add it as an official means of getting support, both from SmugMug Customer Service as well as from fellow SmugMuggers who just like to help out.

So login, give it a shot, let us know what you think.

While you're at it, you can give us a hand with the Wiki and start writing pages or updating those that are missing information.

See ya on SmugChat!

My firewall (ZoneAlarm Pro) is blocking my connection to this. I have gone through my ZA log and program files but I do not see what I should authorize. Can anyone tell me what name this chat software will show up as in ZoneAlarm? Thanks.

I'm using the free ZA and it goes right thru. I going in thru FF so maybe it's some setting for your browser.

    I found the problem
Went back to ZA and looked a little closer. I found the log entry under "IM Log". 11doh.gifJust where I should have looked before.

In case others have this problem: In ZA Pro under the "IM Securtiy" tab click on 'Settings'. You'll then see this window, click on the 'Advanced' button. In the pop up window un-check the 'Block IRC' setting. Now you are all set. Thanks for the help Allen. clap.gif

Oh, nice. If you don't mind, this would be something nice to add to the Wiki.

Or I can add it when I get a minute, I suppose, if it's too much trouble. :)

Well I did - so color me stupid but I don't get it headscratch.gif . Besides the real time cyber talk - Just what is the advantage of the Wiki site over Dgrin?

Please remember, I'm an old dog which has a hard time with new tricks (sometimes takes a good boot in the butt to get me out of my comfort zone - even if it's to my benefit). :D

    easier to socialize?
I used to be a big time IRC (internet relay chat) user and it's a little less formal and a lot faster to simply chat. It's pretty hard to use proper punctuation and formal sentences when you're firing messages back and forth.

It's a little like text messaging vs email. One is a lot faster and instant the other a little more formal (sometimes) and not as instant-- and you can't include a whole bunch of others at once.

    But... that's just my interpretation.

You don't need to do either, just go to http://smugmug.jot.com/SmugChat and follow the instructions. You can use the built-in Web based chat client, or you can use something like Trillian or mIRC if you know how to set that up.

    Hope to see you there!

BTW, to use Trillian as your client, you need to make sure you have the IRC Plugin enabled.

For those new to Trillian here is a link: http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/

Trillian supports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Messenger, and IRC so it can be your 1 chat program solution.

No I do not work for Cerulean. I just really like it.
