Duotones and Autocolor

I'm getting ready to proof my first all smugmug wedding, and I just finished uploading 329 pics, a mix of color and Duotones. I'm planning on leaving auto on as default printing so my client can know what to expect if she decides to order from smugmug. I was wondering how auto handles an RGB duotone, will it try to 'correct' it? Or recognize it for what it is and leave it alone, also I'd like to know if there is some way of confirming backprinting is on. I have it set in control panel...do I need to set again in 'customize gallery'??

Thanks for the help,

JK

I don't have a definitive answer for you on the duotones. Maybe someone else does, but if all else fails... try it and see? And, of course, report back so we'll all know :D . My inclination is to go true color on those.

As far as backprinting goes, the control panel will cover you. As with most of our features, you can override it on a per gallery basis if you want to. If you're nervous about it for any reason, you can email us at the help desk after an order is placed and (if we're in a good mood...) we can double-check to make sure everything will print correctly for you!

your duotones should be printed true color. Make sure you are calibrated properly, and that your images are not underexposed in the least. Remember: the monitor, is backlit. The print, uses reflected light.

Happy to look at some examples, if you wish. Send them for review, via a LINK to help@smugmug.com and our print specialist (me, or Baldy) will review them for you :D
