The Pod

Hey, I tried doing a search for this but it said the words were too short or too common (which I can understand).

I was wondering if anyone has use The Pod. I'm going on a vacation this winter and I don't really want to haul a tripod with me the whole time. This looks like something that I can just throw in the bad and pull it out when I need to.

Anyone have an opinion on it?:scratch

Google can search for 3 letter words, just enter:

    "site:dgrin.com pod"

    Which got me here:

I purchased the bigger one as soon as they came out. Sold it the very next week. I had Canon 20D at the time.
It's only good - in my opinion - for compact and ultracompact p&s.
In which case, again strictly IMHO, something like Gorilla Pod would be a much more versatile alternative.

No relation to any products. Just personal experience.

do you know how long I've been trying to remember that syntax? lol3.gif

I tried just about every combination of quotes and crap over the past few months, but never got it to work right (a major necessity for searching advrider).

Maybe I'm missing something, but it doesn't look that useful to me. What can this do that a jacket or sweater or something couldn't do?
Shoot, or shoot not. There is no try.

    Not much:
    • thread onto the camera
    • reconfigure quickly

I think the speed is about it's only real advantage from the brief time I used one (or something very very similar). You can litterally just plop your cammera down somewhere, squish it around to get the beads holding it in the right angle and shoot. With a sweeter or something you have to spend a lot more time adjusting it.

Here's a more practical example: compare a bean bag chair with just balling up a comforter... you be the camera.

The pod is a great idea. But I think it'd be better if it weren't shaped the
way it is. A more free form would allow you to adjust it better.

Wow, that's an awsome page! That safe search thing will be really cool! I hate searching for some normal thing and coming up with thousands of pages of porn!

    Very cool! Thanks thumb.gif
